Fish and Chips

The ultimate British food. Have you ever eaten these at the seaside? Fish and chips are the best in British institutions, and you can get some from pretty much anywhere in the country. Head down to your local chippy now!

Phonebox

Time to go retro! You don't see many of these anymore, sadly! The red phonebox is one of those things that reminds us of just how amazing our countries' history is. This particular model is a K2 phonebox, a lesser-known model of the iconic red phoneboxes. Typically, red phoneboxes are K6 phoneboxes, a smaller variant of the K2.

London Underground

The world's oldest underground railway, the London Underground system, commonly known as the Tube because of the cylindrical shaped tunnels, criss-crosses below the historic city of London, carrying around 3,400,000 people per day. It has 11 lines and 270 stations on the network, and covers a large part of Greater London, as well as parts of Essex, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.

Only Fools and Horses

The most iconic television program ever created; Only Fools and Horses is recognisable anywhere, and so are the adventures of Derek "Del Boy" Trotter and his 'plonker' brother Rodney. If you haven't seen it before, then get on YouTube now and watch some clips from the series.

A Pint

The classic British cold drink; beer. Served across the land in our iconic pubs, our foamy liquid gold is a metaphor for life. The surface below it is the ground below our feet, the glass is the clothing on our body and the beer itself is the body, with its lovely foamy hair.

10 Downing Street

The most iconic headquarters of anything in the country; 10 Downing Street, in central London, is the headquarters of Her Majesty's Government and the official residence and office of the First Lord of the Treasury, a post now taken by the Prime Minister. The famous black front door is synonymous with politics, and not a single major news broadcast goes by without a live feed from outside. Despite this, Downing Street is not actually open to the public, and is fenced off to keep out riff-raff.

The White Cliffs of Dover

This is our face;our facade to Europe. This is the only part of our country visible on the continent, and what a glorious part of our country it is. The White Cliffs of Dover are made mainly of soft, white chalk, and are prone to coastal erosion more than other cliffs. Contrary to the famous song, bluebirds cannot actually be found over these cliffs, as bluebirds are an American bird species not found in the UK.

English Bulldog

Awww... now that's a dog. Not a rat on a lead, as has become the norm these days, but a proper dog. The English Bulldog isn't seen that often these days, but it is the true English dog. You can't get more British than a Bulldog.

A Shed

This is a thoroughly splendid example of the British manshed. A Britons life is incomplete without a shed, and we are a nation of sheds. Some of the greatest inventions in the world have come out of sheds, and it's high time we put down our espressos, went to the shed and made something. Probably a birdtable.

The Pub

We all have our favourite, but the pub is just one of those things which rests deep in the British culture. This is a particularly fine example of a classic British pub, but there are thousands across the country. The British pub is something which we have to love!

The Routemaster Bus

The Routemaster bus is the quintessential British icon; think of London and this will come to mind. Seeing one of these on the road can stir up immense patriotism, but, sadly, they were finally taken out of general service in London in 2005. Fortunately, a new modern Routemaster has just hit the streets of London, and images will be coming very soon!
